Careful Packing is Essential
Poor packing can destroy the sale
Our most challenging task is to safely pack a complete earth station antenna in shipping containers destined for delivery to an international destination.
We build out the interior with wooden braces to support reflector panels, and we use metal straps to secure heavy items like the king-post.
Large amplifiers have their own challenges, they are typically very heavy in relation to their size, and need to have very sturdy boxes. We normally ship the larger amplifiers in specially made wooden crates, supported on the inside with dense foam packing.
International destinations often have rules that we need to be aware of. Certain countries only allow entry of an approved treated wood, other countries prohibit the use of the Styrofoam peanuts. Failure to abide by these rules can cause long and costly delays.
Everything we sell is FOB our warehouse and so we rely on the buyer to specify the method of shipping. Some have their own accounts and request that we use their choice of couriers, other buyers ask us to find the cheapest shipping method that will meet their delivery needs.
It should not come as a surprise to hear that the cheaper carriers are often the slowest to deliver, but as the cost of international shipping can be an expensive part of the purchase it is frequently necessary to achieve the most economical routing.
